a bit about me

for education purposes mostly
********************
I leverage 25 years in academia — teaching students for the graphic design and entertainment industry.  My personal history includes a wide array of experiences before arriving at my professional destination — including travel within the US, Canada, Mexico, Scotland, England, Italy, Paris and Greece. I have lived in proximity to other cultures – Franco-American, Tunisian, Pueblo, Navajo, and Spanish speaking communities.  I started out my life working with horses – took a long winding path to now lol.
I’ve been a shepherdess to a flock of sheep and goats, a logger for a short bit of time and all kinds of other things — leave no stone unturned is my motto.

My art training covers a broad spectrum of fine art and entertainment industry art making processes and craft: printmaking, small metal sculpture, book arts, 3D fibers, ceramics, pueblo pottery making, analog photography, digital photography, documentary photography, fashion design pattern-making and production, drawing and computer art, sound design, animation and graphic design topics, felting, weaving and spinning, crochet, knitting silk painting, found object sculpture. I’m an image-maker, textile artist, weaver, twined rug maker – sometimes print-maker and bookbinder.  I like mixing mediums and methods.

Given all that…primarily, I consider myself a catalyst for fostering creative growth….a creative mentor guru of sorts — and I am really happy to be on this journey because I get to do what I love most — create and help others do the same.

Remember — no matter what you do creatively – your life experiences and everything you have learned to this point will have an influence on your work – once we get the tech skills down, then we need inspiration to draw from. Our life experiences add flavor and purpose to our work as artists.

I look forward to working with all of you
